At Roots to Recovery Collective, we believe that healing happens in connection—with others, with ourselves, and with the roots that ground us. We’re a collective of peers and professionals offering compassionate, real-world support for people navigating substance use and recovery.
At Roots, we offer personalized substance use counseling services tailored to your unique journey. Our experienced counselors are dedicated to helping you navigate the complexities of substance use and recovery. We focus on creating a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your feelings and overcome challenges.
Our certified peer specialists have been there. We offer one-on-one and group support from people who’ve lived through substance use and mental health challenges and found recovery.
Peer support is about walking alongside—not above or ahead. You’re not alone in this.
At Roots to Recovery Collective, we offer compassionate and confidential substance use assessments to help you take the first step toward healing. Our assessments are not about judgment—they’re about understanding your unique experience so we can recommend the most supportive path forward.
Whether you’re seeking help for the first time, exploring treatment options, or needing an assessment for court, work, or another program, we’re here to listen and guide you. Each assessment includes a one-on-one conversation with a professional who will help identify your needs, strengths, and goals.
Let’s plant hope and grow recovery—together.
We partner with local organizations to help you access treatment, sober living, mental health care, harm reduction, housing, and more. When you’re with us, you’re connected.
“Referrals to other qualified therapists will be made for services that fall outside our scope of practice, such as EMDR and specialized trauma treatment modalities.”
A process of change through which individuals improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life, and strive to reach their full potential.

Meet Michael Gayman
International Alcohol and Drug Counselor & Peer Recovery Specialist
Michael Gayman brings over two decades of lived experience in recovery—26 years of hard-earned wisdom, resilience, and hope. As an International Alcohol and Drug Counselor and Certified Peer Recovery Specialist, Michael has dedicated his life to walking alongside individuals on their own recovery journeys.
With a deep background in healthcare and nonprofit work, Michael has served in a wide range of settings—from treatment centers and hospitals to homeless drop-in centers—always focused on uplifting those facing substance use challenges and housing instability. His work is grounded in compassion, authenticity, and a deep understanding of what it takes to heal and rebuild.
Outside of his professional life, Michael finds peace in nature and enjoys hiking as a way to stay grounded and connected. His approach to recovery is as real as it is inspiring—centered on the belief that everyone deserves support, dignity, and the chance to grow.
Phyllis is the newest (and furriest!) member of our recovery community. She’s currently in training to become a certified therapy dog, and she’s already doing what she does best—bringing comfort, calm, and lots of tail wags to everyone she meets.
Whether you’re here for support, a warm meal, or just need a few moments of peace, Phillis is here to remind you that you’re never alone on this journey. 💚
Feel free to say hello, give gentle pets, and share a little love—Phillis is learning right alongside all of us.
We love our customers, so feel free to visit during normal business hours.

Destination Recovery Homes is reimagining sober living — not just a place to stay, but a place to grow. We offer personalized support for men and women in Iowa and Illinois, creating recovery plans that fit your life, not someone else’s. Here, you’ll find structure, community, and people who genuinely have your back. Recovery isn’t one-size-fits-all — and you don’t have to do it alone. Let’s recover together.
Eagle View Behavioral Health provides compassionate, expert care for mental health, behavioral, substance use, and psychiatric challenges that disrupt daily life. Our team offers assessment, diagnosis, rapid stabilization, and continued support through both inpatient and intensive outpatient programs. With physician oversight, medication management, and group therapy, we create a safe, supportive space for hope and healing.
The Center was born from prayer and a vision — a place where ministries serving in the name of Jesus can thrive. What started as Skate Church for at-risk youth has grown into a hub for community, belonging, and hope.
We serve through radical love: drop-in support for our unhoused friends, peer recovery and substance use counseling, a food pantry, and a thrift store. We welcome like-minded ministries to partner with us as we share God’s love in the heart of the community.
